The white wagtail (Motacilla alba) is a petite passerine bird belonging to the avian family Motacillidae, and the family also constitutes other small birds like the pipits and long claws. The white wagtail is also the national bird of Latvia, and its image is highlighted on the stamps of many European and Western nations.
The bird is prevalent in Britain and Ireland and has a sedentary lifestyle, but it migrates to southern Europe and colder parts of Asia. It is generally found on the banks of rivers or sparsely populated lands. The white wagtail makes nests in crevices within the stone walls and other human made structures.
The species has strong breeding presence in Palearctic zone consisting of the Europe and Asia and some parts of North Africa. However, there are breeding instances of this bird in the Western Alaska region as well.
In her present state, the beautiful bird is all alone and calibrating the cold waters from the stony banks of the river in the high mountain zone. She has already flown several thousand miles and completed one way trip. She has to return back to her home country on the round trip, but before she takes to the return flight; her wishful plan is definitely to have an adventurous stay in the new Asian country.
